A graphic novel by Judd from MTV's The Real World: San Francisco. It really appealed to the 21-year-old me who loved The Real World: San Francisco. I'd heard that this book existed but it wasn't until just now that I picked it up and read it. A book that I think would really work well with teenagers who are talking about people who are gay and people who have AIDS.

An amazing graphic novel about a girl growing up in Iran during the Revolution in the late 1970s.

American Born Chinese

American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yan
This has been the summer of YA/teen books for me again as they are the perfect summer reading books. They have great stories and don't get really hung up in some of the stuff that adult books get hung up in, plus they are quick reads. Two other books that I've really enjoyed in the last few weeks are American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang was the winner of the Winner of the 2007 Michael L. Printz Award, which is the award for excellence in young adult literature. It's a graphic novel and one of the best graphic novels I've read. Bryan and I really enjoyed it and both highly recommend it.

Plain Janes

Plain Janes by Cecil Castellucci & Jim Rugg

An advanced reader's copy of a graphic novel that I picked up at ALA Midwinter in Seattle. It's the first in a series of girl-centered graphic novels that DC Comics is putting out. I really enjoyed this and Bryan did too. I look forward to reading other books that are part of this series.

Scooter Girl

Scooter Girl by Chynna Clugston-Major

I picked this up at my sister's house before we headed out to Seattle for the ALA conference. It was an enjoyable quick read as many graphic novels are. I really liked the kitchy sort of edge that it had, sort of a cool hipster girl edge.

Blankets

Blankets by Craig Thompson

A graphic novel recommended by a librarian at the library I work at. Supposedly it's been controversial for libraries to have it in their teen/graphic novel areas becuase it's more adult than teen. I'm sure older teenagers would really enjoy it.
